plasticizers

versatile phthalate-free intermediates

Our comonomers function as plasticizers and are indispensable additives in adhesive formulations. They aid to impart flexibility and improve the workability of adhesives. By reducing the glass transition temperature (Tg) of the adhesive matrix, plasticizers enhance its elasticity, enabling the adhesive to withstand stress, strain, and movement without cracking or losing bond strength.

Plasticizers play a vital role in enhancing the durability of adhesives by increasing their resistance to environmental factors, such as temperature fluctuations, moisture, and UV radiation. These additives help mitigate the effects of thermal expansion and contraction, preventing adhesive failure or debonding under extreme conditions. By improving durability, plasticizers contribute to the longevity and performance in challenging environments.

Environmental concerns have driven the demand for sustainable and eco-friendly solutions. Plasticizers offer opportunities for formulators to develop adhesives with reduced levels of volatile organic compounds (VOCs) or hazardous substances. By utilizing Indapro™ 41 Series Phthalate-Free Plasticizers, manufacturers can align their products with stringent regulations and customer expectations, promoting sustainability and environmental responsibility.

Indapro™ 4191 is an intermediate used mainly in wood-based applications, including adhesives and coatings for this renewable material. Most commonly, used in manufacturing waterproof wood glue, where it minimizes the discoloration that can occur when bonding high-resin lumber woods, but it is also a key component in other wood coating applications. By increasing the durability of wood products and thereby reducing the need for natural resource consumption, Indapro 4191 has an important sustainability function. It helps customers meet the growing consumer demand for renewable materials.

polyvinyl alcohol (PVA) adhesives

Indapro 4192 and 4193 are key components in the manufacture of polyvinyl alcohol (PVA) adhesives and coatings. Used as co-monomers in the synthesis of resins for PVA adhesives, a versatile solution that can be applied to a broad range of materials, including tiles, wood, and PVC. These chemicals are typically used to increase flexibility and reduce glass-transition temperature. Because of the structure of their alkyl chains, they both increase hydrophobicity in PVA polymers. Indapro 4192 and 4193 are made in part from renewable, bio-based raw materials, enabling a more sustainable value chain.

Wood glue is specially formulated to penetrate wood fibers. Popular with professionals in construction and woodworkers when bonding high resin lumber, polyurethane glue is used to achieve a complete waterproof adhesive. Indapro™ Intermediate is used in manufacturing waterproof wood glue where working time and cure time are crucial. It also helps minimize the discoloration that can occur when bonding high-resin lumber woods.
