Paper Chemicals
The Bercen paper product line is diversified and encompasses specialty additives, coating lubricants, insolubilizers, and surface and internal sizes. Presently, we offer many new and innovative products for these areas. Bercen prides itself on being at the forefront of major developments for the paper industry.

Coating Lubricants
Bercen pioneered the use of phospholipid lubricants (U.S. Patent No. 4,766,015) for use in aqueous coatings. These products have allowed the papermaker to operate coaters and supercalenders at speeds unattainable with other lubricant technologies.

Coating Insolubilizers
Bercen is a major supplier of glyoxal and melamine resins used in pigmented and non-pigmented paper coating as a crosslinker and insolubilizer.

Sizes
Bercen manufactures alkenyl succinic anhydride (ASA) as an internal size. ASA is particularly effective in alkaline or neutral papermaking systems. Bercen also has an excellent line of polymeric and non-polymeric surface sizing agents that develop high contact angles and provide superior printing properties.

Specialty Products--Bercen has developed and patented a series of single component latex and non-latex systems for use as a saturant at the size press for use in strippable wallpaper, map stock, book papers, label stock tape, and any grade where saturants are required.
